The Complex Conversations Framework (IM EI Boat on the CCCCs Framework)

An integrated model for navigating high-stakes conversations with clarity, integrity, and commitment.

Most frameworks sound good in theory but collapse under real pressure. When power dynamics are uneven, emotions run high, or outcomes are uncertain, people don’t need abstract advice–they need an anchor they can actually remember and use. Our “Im ei boat on the CCCCs” model turns complexity into something tangible and practical. It’s a clear framework that works across the personal and professional space- broad context, specific situation. It’s designed for the conversations we avoid, delay, or fear- because it gives us a way to enter into them with intention.

This overall Framework will incorporate our 3 independent Frameworks:

The session will include:

  • Information about Renee, expectations of the workshop, and overall information about our approach.
  • Purposes and benefits, and the overall analogy tying the frameworks together.
  • An interactive overview of the big picture, setting goals, and identifying areas of strength.
  • How to identify what is important to the individual you are speaking to, breaking down areas including lifestyle, health, family, and actualisation.
  • Ways to engage as an individual, recognising Action, Buy In, Empowerment and Control.
  • How to actively invest, turning I/You into Us/We, building trust and collaboration.
  • Participants will be given an opportunity to create their own ‘pitches’, and will be supported in identifying strengths and areas they would like to build experience in.
  • There will also be an opportunity for some to present their pitches and be supported in reflecting on their work, as well as their engagement with the Commitment Framework as a whole.
  • Supported Reflection on the Commitment Framework.
  • An introduction to the ‘Boat’ Framework and a self-awareness activity.
    The exploration of values, including an activity where participants identify, share, and prioritise some of their own values.
  • How to harness emotions to improve memory, meaning, motivation, impact, interpretation, recall, accuracy, and rationality.
  • An overview of triggers, reflections on experiences, and brainstorming ways to improve responses.
  • Structures to guide different types of conversations and identify which ones participants feel best fit them.
  • Reflective practice approaches and tools.
  • Supported reflection on the Boat Framework and one thing to use tomorrow.
  • An overview of our ‘4 Cs’ Framework and its place in the complex process of learning in a world with significant diversity and expectations.
  • The exploration of context, and how to assess the relationship between you and another person in an interaction.
  • An interactive assessment of the content of our ideas, and how to identify what information is needed versus nice to have.
  • How learning sits with us and transforms over time.
  • Activities exploring different mediums of communications and what happens before, during, and after a communication.
  • Group discussions around problem solving.
  • Supported reflection on the model and when it could be employed by participants.

When something is important or interesting to us, it can be easy to forget that other people do not see things through our eyes. For another human to engage in what you care about, it is important to explore their perspective on the topic.

This framework reminds us of the many levers we have to adjust when sharing our knowledge to make the message meaningful and sticky to the recipient, rather than to us, reflecting on:

  • Context
  • Content
  • Consideration
  • Contact

 

The session will include:

  • An overview of our ‘4 Cs’ Framework and its place in the complex process of learning in a world with significant diversity and expectations.
  • The exploration of context, and how to assess the relationship between you and another person in an interaction.
  • An interactive assessment of the content of our ideas, and how to identify what information is needed versus nice to have.
  • How learning sits with us and transforms over time.
  • Activities exploring different mediums of communications and what happens before, during, and after a communication.
  • Group discussions around problem solving.
  • Supported reflection on the model and when it could be employed by participants.

Complex situations come with little that is certain… That’s why we find them complex. In these precarious circumstances, one of the few things that we have both control over and expertise into is ourselves. Knowing ourselves – our beliefs and behaviours – is half the battle.

This framework identifies four key components that we as individuals can work on to ensure that we bring our most equipped selves into these conversations:

  • Anchor
  • Sails
  • Rudder
  • Engine

 

The session will include:

  • An introduction to the ‘Boat’ Framework and a self-awareness activity.

The Grief Connection Workshop (FilaGrie)

An integrated approach for understanding and working with grief with honesty, connection, and care.

The word Grief is taboo, for all kinds of reasons. Its association with weakness, shame, loss and pain leave it an unspoken period in most people’s lives. And yet it is one of the few experiences all humans are likely to have, and not just once, in the modern world where we are faced with so much challenge and change. It is also a human experience that benefits from connection, which instead we avoid.​

FiLaGrie aims to transform the cultural conversation around Grief, utilising performance to eNayble users to interact, reflect and connect in safe and creative ways, while exploring Grief and how it affects each of us differently. It provides a safe, sometimes funny, and always optimistic space to get to know this thing called Grief together, so that it may become less scary and easier to share. We explore the Fine Layers of Grief.

FiLaGrie recognises that while the linear 5 Stages of Grief often referenced are useful

  • Denial
  • Anger
  • Bargaining
  • Sadness
  • Acceptance

The experience is more likely to feel like the Fine Layers of Grief, or a FiLaGrie.

The session will include:

  • Performance and film
  • Examples of grief behaviours
  • Discussions about grief and it’s elements
  • Space to reflect on individual perspectives on grief
  • How to support people experiencing grief
